It was great to see so many parents in for our science based open afternoon yesterday.
For those of you who were unable to come along click on the link below to access the slide show that was shared at the start, about our school improvement plan and the pupil council.
The key points of this year’s plan are:
- to continue the targeted interventions to close the gap in numeracy (SEAL), literacy (emerging literacy) and Health and Wellbeing (Kit Bag and Music Therapy)
- to continue developing the Inter-Disciplinary Learning (IDL) aspect of the curriculum with our Westpark Worlds, to finalise a homework/learning at home policy in consultation with pupils and parents, to develop our Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood curriculum with a new online resource (which parents will have the opportunity to explore at the school sometime in the new year), and to continue to develop creative approaches to learning
- to continue work on learning and teaching practices at the school so children know what they are learning, why they are learning it and how they will know when they have learned it, as well as improving feedback dialogue between teachers and pupils to set targets for future learning
Parents were invited to sign up to participate in focus groups for a new behaviour policy. You can add your name to the list here.
The learning at home survey can be accessed by following the link below. It will remain open for another week.
